SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA - August 7, 2002 - BakBone Software, a global provider of storage management software, announced today Scott Petersen has joined the company as vice president of sales for North America.

Petersen comes to BakBone Software with more than 20 years of sales experience. Petersen's main responsibilities will be to grow and refine BakBone's channel organization. He is also chartered with developing and implementing strategies to expand current sales efforts.

Petersen joins BakBone from Actionpoint where he was vice president of sales responsible for the sales efforts of one of the leading data capture software companies. In that role he grew the product pipeline and channel revenue by over 200 percent. Prior to that he worked at Sterling Software in numerous roles culminating as vice president of sales for their Storage Management Division. His responsibilities ranged from managing the direct and indirect sales for North America, to meeting targeted revenues of $40-plus million.
