Sanbolic and BakBone Software Announce Partnership and SAN Solution.

WATERTOWN, MASSACHUSETTES - November 27, 2001 - Sanbolic, Inc. a developer of storage area network (SAN) software that provides volume sharing for enhanced intraSAN communication, announced today support for BakBone's NetVault 6.5 for its volume sharing software Kayo. Sanbolic confirms that NetVault 6.5 is fully compatible with and supports Kayo 2.0.

Kayo is a volume sharing software for storage area networks (SANs) that allows high-speed transfers to take place over Fibre Channel. A transparent SAN solution using NTFS, which permits users to simultaneously read and write from the shared volumes on the centralized storage. Multiple readers can see the volume that is owned by a writer. Acquiring and relinquishing of write access to a volume is automatic as is the automatic refresh functionality (ARF) that gives all users continuous access to the most up-to-date information on the shared storage. Kayo is incorporated into the Windows Explorer interface and is a hardware independent solution, available for Windows NT and Windows 2000.

NetVault, BakBone's flagship high performance backup and recovery software, is built upon an advanced modular architecture that provides the flexibility for growth as companies' information storage needs expand and change. With an intuitive and easy-to-use GUI delivering enterprise-wide control in both distributed and centralized environments, NetVault is able to operate in multi-vendor SAN and/or NAS networks and supports a broad range of platforms, applications, and high performance tape devices.

"Minimizing the complexity of SAN integration with an emphasis on performance is a main focus" says Larry E. Fox, Director of Strategic Alliances for BakBone software. "Sanbolic's Kayo advanced volume sharing solution combined with BakBone's high performance backup and recovery software provides our customers with a simple yet highly advanced SAN solution to fit any size environment".

"We are pleased to be working with BakBone to offer our customers a complete back up solution. NetVault block-by-block recovery method combined with Kayo's automatic refresh functionality provides SAN users faster access to restored data by allowing access to data that is in the process of being restored," said Chris Hurley, VP of Sales and Marketing at Sanbolic, Inc. "Our combined products provide our customers an environment that eliminates the traditional pain points of managing a complex SAN. As well as providing an ideal solution for applications such as video on demand, eCommerce and telecommunications."
