LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - NETWORLD + INTEROP - May 7, 2001 - BakBone Software, Inc. (TSE: BKB, OTC: BKBOF), a global provider of new generation storage management software, today announced that its NetVault backup/restore software has been chosen to participate in the InteropNet Labs (iLabs) at NetWorld + Interop 2001 Las Vegas, taking place this week at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
BakBone joins storage industry leaders such as Interphase, Cisco Systems, EMC, Network Appliance, Vixel, QLogic, Spectra Logic and others in providing equipment for use and testing at this year's iLabs. Lab organizers said NetVault was chosen to take part because of its industry-leading combination of robust backup/restore performance and unparalleled ease of use.
The iLabs will demonstrate enterprise-wide fibre channel, linking remote fibre channel networks over an IP infrastructure as well as the integration of network-attached storage (NAS) to a fibre channel back bone. The iLabs will demonstrate not only the interoperable features of storage area networks (SANs), but also how new and existing networking technologies handle this infrastructure.
NetVault will be on display in the iLabs throughout the event; attendees will be able to view for themselves NetVault's ability to manage complex storage configurations ranging from cross-platform implementations and topologies such as SANs and NAS, as well as address companies' growing data storage requirements. BakBone Software is also demonstrating NetVault at its booth at the conference (#947), as well as several of its partners' booths - Overland Data, Network Appliance, FalconStor, Spectra Logic, Exabyte, Plasmon, and Vixel.
"BakBone's NetVault was a natural choice for inclusion in iLabs," said Ed von Adelung, Senior Technical Marketing Manager, Interphase Corporation, who is serving as iLabs coordinator. "Its ease of installation and operation, and its menu-driven, point and click operation across multiple platforms are features that end-users need to make their networked storage configurations run smoothly. NetVault offers those, and other, benefits today, making it the kind of backup/restore software that empowers companies to handle their rapidly growing data loads more easily and more powerfully than ever."
The iLabs is a technically rich feature of the NetWorld + Interop event. The iLabs provides a live, vendor-neutral, open-standards arena for testing and improving the latest networking technologies. It also provides NetWorld + Interop attendees with an unbiased and practical education on the true state of the technologies featured in the iLabs.
"NetVault's participation as backup/restore software at iLabs confirms its value to mid-sized enterprises and for data centers and workgroups at companies of all sizes," said Lauren Whitehouse, BakBone's vice president of marketing. "Through its emphasis on innovation, iLabs focuses on showing companies how they can make their networked technology work more powerfully, with tangible returns on their investment. NetVault's benefits are clearly consistent with the iLabs mission," she added.
BakBone's NetVault features the ability to easily manage the most intensive backup, restore and archiving requirements in cross-platform environments, including Windows NT/2000, Linux and UNIX. BakBone is the only company worldwide to ship solutions spanning critical management functionality across the full range of storage topologies, from direct-attached storage (DAS) to network-attached storage (NAS) and ultimately to storage area networks (SAN) and IP storage.
NetVault is sold globally, through its network of storage-centric resellers and distributors.
