"Herd" on the Street: Caribou Lake Software Chooses NetVault to Backup, Restore Its Data.

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, January 16, 2001 - When Caribou Lake Software, a provider of Java-based computing solutions for e-business companies, found its data storage needs growing dramatically, it chose NetVault™ storage management software from BakBone Software (TSE: BKB, OTC: BKBOF). Caribou Lake chose NetVault citing its ease of use, and ability to meet the company's escalating demands for storage of its corporate-critical information.

"We found the combination was a powerful one," said Mike Leo, Caribou manager of products and infrastructure. "Competing products did not have the quality we needed. NetVault's price/performance ratio was attractive. In addition, the level of customer service we received proved to be a deciding factor. BakBone made it clear to us that we matter to them as a customer."

Caribou Lake develops custom e-commerce solutions for and provides middleware software products to a wide range of industry leaders, including BMW, Barclays Bank, Federal Express, Nortel Networks, Seagate Technology, Western Wireless and others. The company routinely backs up 80 gigabytes of corporate-critical data weekly, with daily incremental backups across a multi-platform environment that includes HP-UX, Sun Solaris, AIX, Windows NT/2000, and Red Hat Linux. "Companies like ours need both the ease of use that NetVault's single point-and-click user interface brings, regardless of the platform we're running," Leo added. "More importantly, we appreciate the simplicity, without compromise, that NetVault offers us. We must have constant access to our information. NetVault makes the backup and recovery of that information as simple as possible."

BakBone's NetVault features the ability to easily manage the most intensive backup, restore and archiving functions across a wide range of computer platforms. NetVault's scalable, advanced modular architecture operates across distributed heterogeneous client/server and multi-user environments, and it is specifically designed for the next generation of network storage applications, such as storage area networks (SANs), as well as today's requirements.

"Companies like Caribou Lake understand that as their storage needs grow, they must use software that grows with them," said Tony Cerqueira, BakBone's chief executive officer. "NetVault has been completely re-architected, combining tremendous backup and restore speed with simplicity. Since corporate technical personnel are being called upon to do more with less, they need products that will do what they want, when they want it, with an absolute minimum of hassle or complexity.

"SANs are converging with network-attached storage (NAS)," Cerqueira continued, "and we're beginning to look at emerging technologies like storage virtualization and storage over IP. Companies need the certainty of buying and using hardware and software that will meet their needs amid changing standards. NetVault is designed to do precisely that."
