Turbolinux Japan Bundles Forthcoming Version of Operating System With BakBone Software's NetVault.

TOKYO, JAPAN, April 5, 2001 - BakBone Software™, Inc. (TSE: BKB, OTC: BKBOF), a global provider of storage management software, and Turbolinux® Japan, Inc., a leader in high-performance Linux for Internet infrastructure solutions, today announced a strategic agreement, under which the new version of Turbolinux Server (version 6.5) will be bundled with a customized copy of NetVault™, BakBone's backup/restore software.

The move reconfirms NetVault's position as the leader in the Linux backup/restore software market throughout Japan, bundled with Turbolinux operating system, which has an overwhelming share of the Japanese market. It also underscores the growing importance of Linux as a preferred operating system among small and mid-sized enterprises requiring robust e-commerce software for business-to-business transactions.

The BakBone/Turbolinux alliance coincides with today's release of Turbolinux Server 6.5, featuring the stability and high functionality indispensable to today's enterprise computing.

"As Linux gains greater acceptance among enterprises, the capability to easily and powerfully backup and restore information becomes a prime consideration for companies," said Kuniteru Kojima, Turbolinux Japan's president. "Then, Turbolinux Server 6.5 required some additional function to protect companies' increasing data powerfully and easily. We chose NetVault because of the big share and actual sales results in the Japanese Linux market as well as BakBone's great technical and support capabilities. We can provide our customers with stable OS packages that can be employed at the large-scale system, protecting most important corporate asset: their information."

"Turbolinux Server 6.5 provides the performance and strength increasingly demanded by companies," said Pat Barcus, BakBone's vice-president, Pacific Rim. "The agreement to bundle NetVault with Turbolinux Server 6.5 throughout Japan demonstrates Turbolinux's commitment to provide its customers with the solutions they need to maintain a competitive advantage in today's business environment."

The Turbolinux/NetVault bundle is available from April 20, 2001 through Turbolinux's distributors and in computer shops at a suggested retail price of ¥39,800 (US$320).
