BakBone Executive Vice President Interviewed on WallStreetNewscast.net

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 2000-- Tony Cerqueira, Executive Vice President of BakBone Software (TSE:BKB - news), has told a web-based newscast aimed at investors that the company is rapidly moving toward fulfilling its corporate strategic objective of marketing its storage management software products throughout North America, even as it firms up its global positioning.

Cerqueira, interviewed yesterday on WallStreetNewscast.net, said BakBone's goal is establishing itself as a leading worldwide provider of software-based storage management solutions. He told interviewer Tom Bustamante that BakBone's flagship product, NetVault(TM), already has a strong market position in both Europe and Asia, where it is used by leading firms such as SAP Japan, Sony and Toshiba. Cerqueira declined to offer a specific date for the official launch of NetVault in North America, but said current plans call for it to occur later this summer.

Bustamante said he pursued an interview with BakBone, based largely on its recent inclusion on the Toronto Stock Exchange's TSE 300 Composite index. ``We are impressed by BakBone's rapid growth, and the strength of its market presence overseas,'' he commented. ``We wanted to share the company's perspective on the storage management software market, as well as its plans for continued growth with our web site visitors.'' Bustamante estimated that an average of two million individuals visit the web site every month.

Cerqueira, interviewed in Orlando while at a GartnerGroup seminar on data storage, noted that analysts' estimates of the market growth have mushroomed. He cited a newly released report from Dataquest estimating that the storage market for vendors would grow to an estimated $14.7 billion dollars annually by 2004. That number is more than double Dataquest's previous forecasts.

``We see this as representing an excellent opportunity for BakBone,'' Cerqueira said following the interview. ``We intend to maximize our position in the market through a combination of leading-edge technology and world-class service. This will represent an excellent value to our customers, and we believe it will result in positive long-term growth for the company and its shareholders,'' he added.

The interview can be heard at www.wallstreetnewscast.net through the remainder of the week. Real Player software is required.
