GAITHERSBURG, MD, February 1, 1999 - Tracer Technologies announces the addition of tape library support to the MagnaVault family of system software for storage systems for three versions of Unix: IBM's AIX, Hewlett-Packard's HP-UX, and Silicon Graphics' Irix. Tracer's TapeFS, a component of the MagnaVault product line, provides transparent, high-performance, 64-bit file system access to tape devices of all kinds, and includes features like caching, media spanning, and media management.

MagnaVault includes support for all popular, high-capacity tape libraries, including those from Hewlett-Packard, Philips LMS, ATL, Asaca, Qualstar, SpectraLogic, and others. MagnaVault version 222, available immediately, includes support for these tape libraries on the following versions of Unix:

• Hewlett-Packard HP-UX 11.0 and above
• IBM AIX 4.2.1 and above
• SGI Irix 6.5
• Sun Solaris 2.6 and above (sparc, x86)
